 Ms. Shih holds a B.A. degree in composition from National Taiwan Normal University and M.A. degree in piano performance and composition at Boston University. Upon graduating, Ms. Shih advanced her study in composition in the Doctorate of Music Art program at City University of New York.

 As an active composer, Ms. Shih collaborates with several organizations including Taiwan Chamber Orchestra, Taipei Artist Foundation¸ Off The Hook Chamber Music Festival, and most recently, Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Philharmonic Chorus, Taipei Philharmonic Formosa Singers, Counterpoint Chamber Music and Chiang Wei-Shui’s Cultural Foundation. Her music received great acclaim from audience and professional musicians for its lyrical characteristics and flavor of Taiwanese folk song. She has over one hundred instrumental arrangements of Taiwanese folk songs, published more than twenty volumes of folk song arrangements in Taiwan. Her music is also recorded in CD albums, performed globally in New York, Boston, San Diego, and Los Angeles (US); Berlin and Stuttgart (Germany); Toronto and Vancouver (Canada); Singapore; Japan, San Francisco Bay Area and her homeland Taiwan. Ms. Shih’s recent works include a set of a cappella ˂Song of the Earth˃, piano trio ˂Ode to Life˃ ˂Spring Upon Us Again˃, ˂New Born˃ for violin & piano, double concerto ˂Breaking Dawn˃ for violin and piano and, cantata ˂Jail as My Hotel˃.

 Residing in Bay Area, Ms. Shih devotes herself as an active composer, pianist and a teacher. In addition to composing, Ms. Shih lectures at schools and local communities in the U.S. and Taiwan to share her musical disciplines and esthetics with various levels of audience, from music-major students to general music lovers.
