1990 Shiao-Wen Chang graduated from National Taiwan Academy of the Arts and majored in Theory & Composion. Chang passed in 1990 the Test for Scholarship of DAAD (Deutsche Akademischer Austauschdienst). 1990 went to Chang to Germany and entered Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg by Professor Alfred Schnittke. 1995 graduated from Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg with Diplom für Komposition and Musikpädagogie für Musiktheorie Degree, and Qualification specially of theaching music theory.

After returning to Taiwan, Chang was teaching first at Tainan Women’s College of Arts and Technology for Music Theory and Composition. Now is Chang as Associate Professor also for Music Theory and Composition of Music Department, Tainan National University of the Arts.
