CHIEN, Shan-Hua

Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU).

Master of fine arts from University of California at Irvine, U.S.A., Composition diploma at “Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien”, Austria.

He obtained Alban Berg Stiftung, was awarded prizes and has been commissioned for composition by the Council for Cultural Planning and Development.

He was Dean of College of Music, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), Chairman at the Music Department NTNU, President of Taiwan Music Educators' Association, President of the Society for Ethnomusicology in Taiwan, and President of ISCM-Taiwan section.

He conducted Chin-Shei Choir, Taiwan University Choir, Female Choir of Music Department, NTNU, Music Fellowship Choir, and Taipei YMCA Oratorio Choir.

During 2007-2011, he was the project director of “The Beauty of Taiwan Indigenous Music” and “The Austronesian Music Museum”, which belong to the National Digital Archives Program sponsored by Taiwan National Science Council.

He is now retired Professor in Music Department and Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology in NTNU.
