Composer CHEN Yi-Chen is a Taiwanese composer of instrumental and electroacoustic music. Chen holds degree from National Taiwan Normal University (B.F.A., 1999), University of Michigan (M.M., 2002) and University of Maryland (D.M.A., 2006). Her primary teachers include Bright Sheng, Susan Botti, Robert Gibson, Lawrence Moss, and Mao-Shuen Chen. Chen has won Walsum prize for her orchestral work Labyrinth. Her music has been presented in Taipei International New Music Festival, SEAMUS conference, WOCMAT, ACL Music Taiwan, Enterpe: Spring and Autumn concert series, and Taiwan Contemporary Music Forum. Her 2009 work Wanderer in the Dark for solo percussion with electronics, featured in Wu Shih-San's percussion recital NÉOPERCUSME, is a finalist in the performing arts category of 2009 Taishin Art Award, one of the most prominent art awards in Taiwan.

As an avid champion of contemporary music, Chen is an active member of Asian Composer's League, ISCM-Taiwan, and Formusica-Taiwan. She has co-organized several contemporary music festivals and forums. Chen currently serves as Associate Professor in the music department at National Chaiyi University where she teaches composition, music theory and analysis. She also lectures at Taipei National University of Arts.
