Taiwanese composer Chih-Liang Lin creates music that involves acoustic instruments, multimedia, and electronic music. Her music emphasizes on the expressive power of sound derived through the extended techniques of acoustic instruments as well as the application of noise. Recently, she combines the concept of music theater and choreography in her works.
Chih-Liang's music has been performed at Ticino Music Festival, ARCO opus. 2019, 2019 Kaohsiung International Modern Percussion Festival, Festival Musica, Université d'altitude, Joint WOCAM –IRCAM Forum Conference, Darmstadt Music Festival, Mise-En Music Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, and Charlotte Music Festival. She has worked with Ensemble Modern, Les Métaboles, Ensemble Multilatérale, L’Instant Donné, Elision Ensemble, Kaohsiung Succession Percussion Group, Ju Percussion Group, Mise-En Ensemble, and Beo String Quartet. Recently, she was selected as one of representative of Taiwanese composers in IRC 2020.
Chih-Liang received her DMA degree from the Ohio State University, where she studied with Jan Radzynski. She was the resident composer with the OSU Symphony in 2014 and awarded the Marilyn and Donald Harris Scholarship Fund and Ministry of Education of Taiwan Scholarship Fund. Ms. Lin received her MM degree from Boston University, where she studied with Joshua Fineberg and Richard Cornell. She received her Bachelor of Music from National Taiwan Normal University, where she worked with Ching-Yu Hsiau.
