Education & Experience
Pei-Yu SHI, a composer of instrumental, vocal and electroacoustic music, specializing in audiovisual acousmatic composition, multichannel audio, video and audiovisual art,  performing art. She received a PhD in musical composition from University of Birmingham, UK., a soloist diploma from Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music in Germany, and a master degree of Taipei National University of Arts, Taiwan. Her works have been conferred several international awards, including four first prizes separately from Germany, Portugal, Italy, and performed by international contemporary as well as electroacoustic music festivals/concerts in Asia, the United States, Canada, and European countries. For her musical idea she has been interviewed by Taiwanese, German, French, and Italian media. During her German residency she was a visiting artist/composer at the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe and the Institute of Language and Communication at the Technical University Berlin. She was the jury member of modern music and sound art Berlin, invited by Berlin Government.

 

Artistic introduction
Her works have been displayed six art creation-periods from 1994 to now. She has integrated traditions of Chinese and western, modern and computer music languages, and has developed her personal musical art system. She has engaged in cross-disciplinary art creation, interpreting and producing her own works that she has transformed literature, philosophy and aesthetic meaning to music construction; by structuring tone/sound to narrate, sculpt, and to form the atmospheres and visual senses, theatrical tensions and contrasts; to represent experimentation of music creations in form, expression, organization, construction and variation, to reflex a multiple personal artistic style.
The work categories of her music include instrumental, vocal [traditional/western instrumental occupations: solo, chamber music, orchestra music, vocal/instrumental music and digital media], computer music [electronic/electroacoustic music, dance/film music, music theatre incl. immersive sound field creation/spatial composition and design], video and audiovisual works, and literary works [novels, essays, ballads, poems, fairy tales]. Direction: music and sound theatre & musical.
