林盈婷《Can I Breathe?》創作簡介

本創作計劃之初衷概念源自「黑人的命也是命」（Black Lives Matter, 簡稱BLM）運動：喬治・佛洛伊德的死亡在新冠肺炎肆虐的美國重新燃燒起「黑人的命也是命」運動的熱度，一瞬間升級的全美國，甚至全球的抗爭，而BLM的擴大動員並非單一事件所引發，或可單純推給白人優越主義下的「歧視」，而必須從物質歷史的觀點去理解全球視角下不斷變化中的種族關係。筆者由身在美國的台灣人角度出發，嘗試如何超越歧視的觀點去理解制度結構與運動目標，及其產生的緣由。黑人的壓迫如何導致，最後鑑於中美交戰與跨國視角，身為台灣音樂家的我要怎麼去應對目前的運動，並且進一步運用音樂來理解、釐清、紀錄之發展轉折。

宏觀看來，本管絃樂曲二樂章組曲《Can I Breathe?》之特色乃是藉由前、後樂章極為明顯的對比性來詮釋此運動事件裡「衝突、交錯、融合」等現象過程、並以對比音響色澤的設計、匯集音樂及社會脈動。
