- 第五屆東亞翻譯研討會針對東亞國家文學、歷史、政治議題外譯與互譯在語言共同與差異中面對的文化轉換與協商。
- 台灣原住民作家以漢語創作、台語作家以台文發表，華語所扮演的角色，是如美國桂冠詩人原住民作家Joy Harjo所言，「以敵人的語言寫作」做為一種抵抗，抑或是溶解、包圍、借用與抽換？英譯時，英文的角色是溝通、表達、還是歷史文化觀念向強勢社會輸出？這些考慮是否決定譯者對作品的選擇？
- 在全然不同的語境下，譯作對於註解的運用：註解是創作的一部分還是附件？註解的量有沒有上限？註解寫作的技巧。
- 由於期刊性質眾多，作品溝通對象難以掌握，一首詩在投稿、退稿、重投的反覆過程中，只能大致推論舉凡文化意涵多且層次較複雜的作品較難以立刻被接受。這使台灣文學與世界接軌的企圖面對艱鉅挑戰。報告者作品所投期刊都不為盈利目的，不必受市場誘因拘束，都尚難以達到在短時間內被理解的目標，可以想見在成本與市場考量之下的出版免不了往特定方向傾斜，是文化政策制定與主管機關執行時必須留意的。
有鑑於翻譯作品在各種英文出版方式（線上、合輯、專輯、單行本）都非常邊陲，報告者透過研討會其他與會者共同探討非英文創作在國際出版所需克服的障礙。
