He was born in Tainan, Taiwan. He holds a MFA in Institute of Music from National Chiao Tung University, and he majored in multimedia composition. His artworks mainly focus on the contemporary composition, performance art, experimental improvisation, and mixed media installations.
Most of Chen's recent artworks spring from the space, individual emotion and the experiences involved in such. Currently, his focus is on the interaction of visual and sound associated with space. His artworks often include ready-made objects, which become part of a self-emotional narrative. In the process of developing works, he used a lot of materials through the collection and analysis as a basis for the concept of creation. Because of his interdisciplinary experience, he would be not confined to the use of certain media. Therefore, He will deliberately amplify subtle changes in daily life, and then reproducing the hidden signals through sound and visual means in the space.
He was selected 2020-1 Music Creation Fund from National Culture and Arts Foundation, 2017- 2 Music Creation Fund from National Culture and Arts Foundation. He was selected 2015-1 Exhibition Fund from Ministry of Culture: My First Show. And He was also selected from TEMI Art Residency 2020 program, Gachang Art Studio 2019 residency program in South Korea, Chiayi Railway Art Village 2019 residency program in Taiwan, Netherlands ARE 2018 residency, 2018 New Zealand Asia fundation art residency, 2016 Kio-A-Thau Sugar Refinery Artist Village in Taiwan, and 2016 Austronesian International Arts Award (cooperated with Biofication Studio). Now he is the art director of I/R Sound-space Art Studio.
