簡宇君《Duo》作品簡介
綜觀歷史脈絡與潮流，音樂與數字一直保有緊密的關係。作曲家德布西（Claude Debussy）曾說過「音樂是一個神秘的數學過程，其元素是無限的一部分」(“Music is a mysterious mathematical process whose elements are part of infinity.”)。另一方面，數學也關聯著邏輯，作曲家貝爾格（Alban Berg）曾提到「音樂不是來自狂喜的陶醉狀態，而是源於邏輯的著迷」(“Music does not emerge from a state of ecstatic intoxication, but from the ecstasies of logic.”）。這些皆印證了哲學家聖奧古斯丁（St. Augustine）所主張的「在理性中，沒有什麼比數字更高更強大的了，或者說理性就是數字」 (“Within reason, there is nothing higher and more powerful than the number, or reason is nothing else but numbers.”），以及哲學家聖托馬斯阿奎那（Thomas Aquinas）所倡導的「結構化的形式、規律、樂曲的比例是神聖思想的形象，且必須透過元素發光閃耀」（“The structured form, the laws, the ratio of the musical composition, which is an image of the divine idea must shine through the elements.”）。
為上述引言所啟發，也受日本文學作品《博士熱愛的算式》（作者小川洋子希望呈現出數字的永恆與人類的有限之對比）所感動，因而誕生了此作品。本創作探索音樂與數字、數學的緊密關連，發展出「理性」的數學與「感性」的音樂之間的交織瓞綿；並以數字「二」以及「Duo」為出發點，探索不同層面的極與極，彼此纏繞，勾勒出聲響的多元性以及多重層次的迴響。
