Curators Nicole Yi-Hsin Lai & Zong-Yuan Tien｜Amongst the Silence

This video documents the making of Amongst the Silence, an exhibition curated by curators Nicole Yi-Hsin Lai and Zong-Yuan Tien and supported by NCAF's Production Grants to Independent Curators in Visual Arts. It presents footage and interviews from the art venue, execution process, and curatorial practice.

Amongst the Silence seeks to take a positive approach to "silence" and its status in contemporary society and culture. Delving into the question from the perspectives of experience in everyday life and in the public sphere, it ponders and explores discursive formation in these dimensions, as well as the cracks in such discourse, in other words, silence. It also examines how contemporary art can create possibilities of thinking, exploration, construction, and re-imagination through different art forms and creative methods, and in doing so, generate meta-political language and structures to produce knowledge and strategies of resistance, as well as stimulate reflexive thinking.
